Explore the St. Lawrence River

August 11, 2010

Explore Montreal and Quebec, and then go on to more remote and hauntingly beautiful locations such as the Saguenay fjord, Havre St. Pierre, a French Arcadian settlement across from the Mingan Archipelago and its monolithic rocks, the Gaspe Peninsula with its sharp cliffs, and the Madeleine Islands with their green turf, clay cliffs, and  nature preserves.  All along the way are lots of opportunities for adventures such as kayaking, hiking, swimming, and shopping in small coastal villages.

Want to know how immigrants fared when they came through the river in the 1900s?  Read Andrea Barrett’s  Ship Fever.  Go to to plan your trip.
